Important Changes for the 2018-2019 Season

We are excited to announce that East Lyme Youth Basketball will be running a pilot partnership with Salem this season.  It is our hope that this pilot partnership will be mutually beneficial to the athletic and personal growth of both towns’ players, while continuing to foster the connection our communities have already established educationally at the high school level.

As a result of this pilot partnership, we will offer a K-12 program to our players for the first time.  Players from both East Lyme and Salem will have the opportunity to participate on teams together.

We will continue to hold practices and/or games this year at East Lyme High School (pre-season practices only), East Lyme Middle School, Williams School (practices only), and Lillie B. Haynes School.  Given the ELYB-Salem pilot, we will also begin offering our programs at Salem School.  As many of you are aware, due to the renovations of East Lyme’s elementary schools, we will not be able to have practices or games at Niantic Center School nor Flanders School this season.

Here’s more of what you should expect this upcoming season:

  • A K-3 Instructional Program to be run at Salem School.
  • Recreational level games or practices to be held in either East Lyme or Salem.
  • Continued use of Williams School in New London for travel team practices.

Even with these changes to our programming, we are happy to say that we are able to keep our registration fees the same as they have been in the past.  Additionally, we are enthusiastic about all that we will be able to offer in the future once the renovations to East Lyme’s elementary schools are completed.  If you have not already heard, Niantic Center School will have a new gym and Lillie B. Haynes School will have a second gym available.

Given the loss this year of gym availability at two schools where we normally hold our programs, and with the undertaking of a pilot partnership between East Lyme Youth Basketball and Salem, we ask for your flexibility and patience.

Thank you very much for your continued participation in East Lyme Youth Basketball.
